The Duke of Leinster Hotel is unfortunately, not suitable for wheelchair users due to an old and narrow nature of this historic building.
Reception - Ground Floor
Access to the Main Reception area from the front of the hotel is up three steps, with no ramp section available. The remainder of the entrance is level through a pair of automatic glass doors (it opens outwards). The doorbell is not available at the hotel entrance. Once inside the Hotel, reception and lobby is on one level, with slightly narrow doors throughout. Lift is available in the lobby and can take you up all 5 floors. It’s very narrow so it will not accommodate wheelchair users. Seating is available in the lobby for guests to rest whilst checking-in at Reception.
Breakfast room – Lower Ground Floor
Breakfast room is located in the Lower Ground Floor which you can access through set of several narrow steps. There is no lift available to take you in the basement area. Table service during breakfast time is mainly provided for hot beverages and cooked items (toast, poached/fried eggs, etc.). Breakfast times are Mon-Sat 7-10am and Sun 8-11am. Please let us know of any allergies or food limitations. We are not able to serve breakfast in your room due to limited space of our hotel rooms. Breakfast staff will do their best to accommodate you in the breakfast room where possible. Regrettably, we do not supply a Braille service.
Public Toilet - Lower Ground Floor
A public toilet is located in the Lower Ground Floor, accessed through the stairs and narrow corridors. The door opens inwards. Toilet area is not suitable for wheelchair users as it is very narrow.
Lift and rest of the building
Floor indicator buttons within the lifts are at the standard level. Access to all rooms on all floors is, in certain areas, restricted, with small steps, changes of levels and, in all cases, narrow corridor-turning areas. Our Reception team will be happy to correctly allocate rooms, as soon as they are made aware of guest requirements. We would ask that special requests are made at the enquiry stage and they are ***subject to availability***. Being a traditional and narrow building, we have a large number of differing room types, with their own features, which are known by our Housekeeping staff and Reception. This includes Fire Doors and structural features that may prove to be a barrier to certain guest and some internal room layouts will not be suitable for certain disabilities. We are always happy to talk with guests and discuss specific room requirements, as we are fully aware that there are many variations of needs. It is fair to say that we do not have any real experience of guests with wheelchairs/disabilities and our hotel entrance, lift and breakfast room are just some of the barriers that exclude them.
Reception - Health & Safety
Night Receptionist holds details on guests with hearing difficulties, sight difficulties and movement restrictions, in order that they may provide assistance in the event of an emergency. Guests are encouraged to call the Reception for assistance at any time.
